Prayer Corner
Summer 2010

Welcome to our district Prayer Corner—a space for lifting each other in the Light of God!

This month, please be in prayer for…

·        The children, youth, and adults who will be participating in camp this summer at Camp Mt. Hermon and Camp Colorado

·        The youth and advisors who will be attending National Youth Conference July 17-22

·        Continued prayers for Shawn Flory Replogle, Annual Conference Moderator, and his family and McPherson church family during this time of preparing for and moving into Annual Conference this summer at Pittsburgh, Pa.

·        Annual Conference delegates from Western Plains and around the denomination who will prepare to listen, pray, and work together in the name of Christ

 ·        John Elder—pastor at Garden City, who began a six-week round of chemo and radiation at the end of March. Prayers for getting him through another round.

Our Congregations in Western Plains

·       McPherson (Kan.)— Prayers for our “Moving Forward” process—a process involving a consultant from the Alban Institute to help the congregation discern God’s call for the future and to evaluate, articulate, and live in to our Mission and Vision.

·        Mont Ida (Welda, Kan.)

·        Spirit of Joy Fellowship (Arvada, Colo.)—Prayers for openness to the leading of God's Spirit as we search for a direction in our ministry. We also need prayers for our life together with Arvada Mennonite Church as we search for new ways to meet our members and community needs as we try to grow in strength and numbers.

Our Denomination, Our Nation, Our World

·        For those suffering the oil gusher in the Gulf of Mexico.

·        Those affected by recent earthquakes in Haiti, Chile, and Turkey, those in the CoB and beyond contributing with their time and resources to the disaster relief effort in Haiti. Go to www.brethren.org for a blog and photos chronicling this effort.

·        The Maiduguri Church of the Brethren in Nigeria as they rebuild their church, and for all who live in the midst of ongoing violence in that country.

·        Stan Noffsinger, General Secretary, and all CoB staff

·        Our elected officials at all levels of government
