-- A need for more Clean Up Bucket kits is anticipated, following the hurricane damage in southwest Louisiana, and the flooding in parts of New Orleans. Brethren congregations and individuals are encouraged to consider preparing and donating these kits, which are warehoused at the Brethren Service Center on behalf of Church World Service. Go to www.churchworldservice.org/kits/cleanup-kits.html for a contents list and shipping address.

-- Consider attending a training workshop to become a Children’s Disaster Services volunteer. Go to www.childrendisasterservices.org for more information.

Church World Service Kits Needed

Church World Service Kits are in great demand! According to the Material Resources program at the Brethren Service Center in New Windsor. Low inventory levels of Church World Service (CWS) Kits has prompted an appeal for Hygiene Kits, Baby Kits, School Kits, and Emergency Cleanup Buckets.

Go to www.churchworldservice.org/kits for instructions to assemble, pack, and ship kits, or call 800.297.1516. Kits may be sent to Church World Service, Brethren Service Center Annex, 601 Main St, PO Box 188, New Windsor, MD 21776.

Preparing for Disaster

Do you know how your church would respond to a local natural disaster? How about other types of emergencies, such as pandemic flu, chemical spill, or terrorist attack?

The tips sheets found at the website at the link below run the gamut of all aspects of disaster recovery in which the faith community typically becomes involved. These could prove very useful to churches in your district in preparing for and responding to a disaster or crisis.

These resources are free, downloadable and reproducible.

Blessings,
Jane
