Prayer Request

James Hubble, pastor of the Bethel Church of the Brethren in Carleton, Neb., passed away September 18. A memorial service was held September 28 at the Bethel church. Please keep in prayer Jim’s family and the Bethel congregation.

Eleven travel to Lybrook for building service project and much more

Eleven Brethren from the Western Plains District traveled to Lybrook Communities Ministries Oct. 16-22 to help build a house for Marlene Thomas and a hogan for Grandma Rose. But our rich week included much more than physical building.

Update! Western Plains Nigeria Crisis Fund Goal

Update on November 18, 2016: We have increased our donation to the Nigeria Crisis Fund by $4,920 in the month of October. This is 2.5% of our $200,000 goal. The October 12 edition of the Christian Century was entitled Fall Books. When I began reading it, I will admit I was overwhelmed!  The number of books listed, the range of subjects that were presented, and the depth of research and thinking that was evident in this list was out of this world!

Western Plains young adults begin work in BVS

Three young adults from Western Plains District completed their BVS orientation in September and have begun volunteer work across the country: Emmy Goering and Helen Ullom-Minnich of the McPherson (Kan.) congregation and Travis Therrien of the Tok’ahookaadi congregation in Cuba, N.M. McPherson College students welcome rival school to unite against hate

At Wednesday night’s women’s volleyball game, Bethany College vs. McPherson College, the two schools came together in solidarity against racist messages written along sidewalks on the Bethany College campus in September.
